4 oh that ending stars!
Okay, originally I rated this with 3 stars because to me it was a little predictable and at times it tried too hard but a week later and the story is still on my mind I keep thinking about the characters and THAT ENDING that I knew was coming but it still shocked me so much I can’t move on from it and I love it! I love that it got me thinking about it days later and that I keep thinking about the second book and how much I need to read it NOW cause I just have to know how these people will react to that ending…
I can’t really say that the ending surprised me, cause from the start I just knew it was going to happen and all the build up was clearly pointing to that direction!
And because it did, the second book will be A LOT more interesting to read but let’s take things from the top.
Lee finds out her husband died and her world comes down, understandably this book is full of anguish and tears as she struggles to come to terms with it and have a baby in the process, all by herself. She has a group of friends that support her but it’s still not the same. Now I do have to say I found her to be a little annoying at time, her way of thinking was a little judgmental at times and very confusing at other, it’s safe to say my favorite character in this one was not her but Liam. He is the guy that is there to look after her and he does a pretty decent job, he’s funny and charming and goofy at times, it was a delight to read about him, he’s the guy that secures her daughter’s diaper with rope and tape, you can’t help but smile at that right?
The romance part of the story between those two was bumpy to say the least, it took a while to get there and when it did it went full force as proven later on, it should have taken a while longer, give Lee time to grieve properly and deal with a lot of drama on the side. Aaron, Lee’s husband, the majority of the book is about him and his relationship with Lee, obviously. Usually a book focuses more around two major characters and not so much on secondary but somehow this book is about the three of them and it so interesting to read it; just fascinating! It got a bit tricky going back and forth between her marriage and her current relationship; Aaron is everywhere, and Liam can see it, Lee is all over the place, and things turned out to be not as rosy as Lee thought her life to be, at times I was really surprised, like really you’re going to pull that card oh wow surprised, that of course pointed to the cliffy at the end. I’ll definitely be waiting for the second book to see how they’ll be able to deal with THAT.
