Sinning never felt so good…
A fortuitous encounter.
A meeting that should never have happened.
Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever…
Salome knows only one way to live—under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence—the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.
Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.
River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life—he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six—much to his rivals’ delight.
Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.
Styx has one rule in life—never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot… a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go…

Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

5 sign-it-to-me stars!
I’m a huge Tille Cole fan and even though I absolutely looove her Sweet Home series, she took this to a whole other level; sweet and fairy-tale-like turns into dark and edgy and utterly brilliant writing with a captivating story and flawed characters that left me in awe of her.
Tillie Cole you little genius…
This book has it all! As the story unfolded page by page I kept ohhing and ahhing and fangirling and I couldn’t believe my eyes and I wanted to read as slow as possible so I could savor every word and permanently save it in memory.

See? IT HAS IT ALL!
The story begins with a glimpse of the past. A little boy accidentally finds a little girl. Without knowing it, he saves her life and she changes his forever.
Closing my eyes, I thought through what I wanted to ask and, holding a slow, controlled exhale, I tried my damnedest to talk.
“Wh-wh-who a-are y-y-you?”
As I fell back in shock, my eyes widened. I’d never been able to do that before, speak to a total stranger. My hands fidgeted in excitement. I could talk to this chick! I could talk… that made her number three.
Fast forward, he is the Hangmen Mute, the president of an outlaw MC, the man capable of killing with zero remorse, the giver of permanent smiles. The one who finds her again. Salome was born into the Commune. She was one of the Cursed; a female whose beauty was frowned upon and classed as too tempting for the men of the Commune. As a punishment for her curse she endured years of endless abuse. River aka Styx & Salome aka Mae find each other again under weird circumstances. Salome escapes her sheltered life as a part of a religious cult, living in a fenced private area, with barely her life. Styx finds yet another body on his property, this one alive, and he takes her in. When he sees her though, he is reminded of that little girl fifteen years ago whom he spoke to.
“Where the hell’s it coming from?”
I tracked the blood with my eyes and noticed a thin, fresh stream coming from around the back of the dumpster.
“Jesus! Is there a dead body out here again?”
Mae wakes up only to see that boy who had given her, her first kiss at the ugliest moment of her life.
“You have light within you, Styx, and I feel it shining through like the rays of the midday sun. It is beautiful. You are a good man. I am truly happy that I got to see you again. I thought about you often, the boy behind the fence, the boy on the outside… the boy who stole my first and only kiss, and I nightly prayed for your safety and happiness. It is a ritual I will forever keep.”
Styx’s life is brutal. A man who doesn’t speak with words but with his fists. A man who has killed and won’t hesitate to kill again. Styx’s world is full of darkness and blood, the MC isn’t all rainbows and sunshine – on the contrary. Which makes him believe that it is no place for a ray of light, like Mae and her pure heart that has endured more brutality than the entire MC club has witnessed. Yet, she is safer around him; around people that will protest her when her crazy cult come searching for their sacrificial lamb. So when he has to leave for club business, Mae is to stay with Rider and apart from Styx with whom she shares that special bond they formed all those years ago, Mae surprisingly finds another ally, Rider.
Rider shares her beliefs, those her cult forced upon her and she can’t seem to be able to leave behind. He is the guy that won’t embrace the MC way of life 100% and her naivety and innocent is welcomed.
The book ends with a HEA but it leaves a window open for a sequel or (I hope!) more than one book as her secondary characters where equally captivating.
This is definitely a MUST read for MC fans and it goes on my list with favorite MC books because how can it not?!
Amazingly written, captivating and thrilling, Tillie Cole’s latest creation has nothing to envy from famous MC books, hands down a must read!
