5 sweet stars!
Rule was not what I expected it to be! I thought it would be the usual best-friends-that-fall-in-love type of book and there were moments when things got a little predictable but that did not discourage me from reading it and loving it so freaking much!
Rule is a tattoo artist.
He’s the usual bad boy that thinks he doesn’t deserve to be loved, so he doesn’t bother with the concept of it at all. What I loved about Rule though – yes as much as I loved him, I loved Shaw even more – is the female character.
Shaw can kick any female whiny character to the curb. She was amazing, I loved her wit, I loved everything about her!
Shaw has been in love with Rule since she first saw him, but of course Rule is oblivious to it. She stood by his family – having a fucked up family herself – and has been trying to mend their relationship even since. Guarding a secret she stood by Rule, acting as his personal peace maker and watch girl after girl do the walk of shame, never whining about it or throwing a fit. She is not a push over though. Far from it.
Choosing to stay near him even if it breaks her, she allowed her life to be ruled by her overbearing mother.
When the time finally comes for Rule to open his eyes and see the real Shaw, I thought that the book would drag on and on and on, both of them refusing to acknowledge each other. On the contrary Rule pulled his head out of his ass and Shaw didn’t doubt his ability to treat her right.
Of course there was a perfect amount of drama but not between the two or an insane plot that would make me roll my eyes and hate it, or categorize it as one of the pile. Rule is shining brighter than the rest.
After getting together, Shaw blossomed. She became her own person without loosing that innocence that made her, her. She changed in such a good way that I never saw it coming. All the while without any whining on her part. At all. Isn’t that amazing? A heroine that knows what she wants and goes for it, slowly at first and then totally.
Rule and Shaw made the story so interesting, so easy to read and so easy to fall in love with them! Hands down amazing! Oh and meet my newest book boyfriend…
