6 tearful stars!

This book…

Is E-P-I-C!

Yes, of course it is not your typical book. It will rip your heart out and then slowly put it back together. But it is honest. True to itself and more realistic than any other out there.

Carmine and Haven’s story is unusual, at best. Unconventional and complete not doable. But they managed to fight against all odds and be together.

Since the ‘secret’ is out – almost – I can’t help but spoil it a bit since it covers pretty much the majority of the book.

So yeah, Carmine leaves. He leaves and he rips Haven’s heart out. It’s true. With a painful letter, he leaves her.

But what most of the readers don’t get is that, in order for them to be together and free of all the rest, he has to leave. It’s a fact. A painful one but a fact.

Haven was a slave. In her mind she is never truly free. She is basically only now starting to discover herself. A girl than went from being abused on a daily basis, to a girl who has learnt to love and be loved.

When I first read the fanfiction version of the book, that part killed me. It did. And truth be told, no one wants to read about their two favorite characters being separated, although let me point out the fact that in the Bronze Horseman series, Tatiana and Alexander spent a whole book apart. A whole book.

It is needed with some story lines. And Sempre: Redemption always had that twist, that’s why it is true to itself. Like it has happened many times, the author could re-write that part completely just to please the fans. Would that be better? No.

This has always been Carmine and Haven. Haven and Carmine. We know Carmine as an individual, we know how he thinks, how he acts, how he was before her. But for Haven we know absolutely nothing. She was a scared girl that would please anyone in a heartbeat just because she was taught to think and react that way. We don’t know Haven as an individual. We knew her past and how she was meant to react and her present with Carmine. And a part of me is glad that haven was able to live like any other girl of her age. That she got to discover the world.

SEMPRE

Needless to say that I adored it. I love them, I love their love and I love how they love each other.

Yes, it wasn’t ideal but it was true. Painfully true and amazing. A love that tied them and couldn’t be broken no matter what.
